Young Bafana Soccer Academy hosted an inaugural under-11 All Stars tournament at their new headquarters in Strand on Sunday (20 February).

Eight teams entered the competition, with teams travelling from as far as Mitchells Plain, Cape Town, Bellville and Stellenbosch.

Two teams from the Lwandle, Helderberg Rovers and Fuego AFC, also participated in this most enjoyable and very competitive tournament. The tournament was well arranged and organised by Young Bafana’s Young Stars under-11 and under-12 head coach John Chamaille and his team, who received all round congratulations on the successful tournament.

The tourney was also well supported by the vociferous parents and followers of the various teams from the sidelines and added a colourful flavour to the event.

The winners were Stellenbosch who defeated Young Bafana 3-1 in a thrilling final. The Helderberg team fielded two players who are only eight years old in the final.

“These tournaments are important in the identification of future football stars and their development and more of them are being planned this season,” said coach Chamaille.

“The enthusiasm and determination displayed at the tournament augurs well for the development of youth football in the Western Cape.”

Young Bafana wishes to thank all the sponsors for their contributions in making this day a memorable one for the players.
