The annual garden competition was again held in Bot River and the winner will be announced on Tuesday at 19:00 at the St. Peters Church in Bot River and is only open to all persons who entered the competition and their close family.
There will also be a number of “lucky draw” prizes to be won. Gardens were divided into four categories and prizes will be awarded for the top two gardens in each category. The top two positions in each category will receive a cash prize plus a T-shirt donated by Beaumont wine farm.
The overall winner of best garden in addition to the cash prize in his/her category will receive a R400 voucher with compliments of the OK Mini Mark.
The criteria for the gardens that were entered are the best garden in each category with emphasis on the sidewalk and front garden, in other words, the area that is visible from the road.
The rationale behind these criteria is that when visitors and perhaps prospective residents drive around they gain the impression of Bot River being a very pretty village.
The competition attracted 28 entries of which 10 were from the “onderdorp” and the rest from the “Bo” dorp, which included entries from the 225 new houses for which the committee is very thankful.
Prejudging was held on Friday 11 September and the final was judged on Saturday.
The Bot River Ratepayers Association would like to thank everyone who entered and put so much effort into their gardens, and we were also very pleased to see how neat and tidy the whole of Bot River is especially with regard to litter lying around.
The committee would also like to thank those businesses who donated the funds for the cash prizes as well as those who donated the “lucky draw” prizes.
The Rate Payers Associations welcomes members from all communities in Bot River.
A very grateful word of thanks is also extended to the very knowledgeable experts who donated their valuable time to carry out the judging
