The Bonnievale police have seized drugs with a street value of R25 000.
On Wednesday 9 March three members of Bonnievale police quickly acted on information received from the public.
“Sergeant Conrad Swartz, assisted by Sergeant Marthinus du Toit and Sergeant Nico de Villiers pulled a 49-year-old Nigerian citizen and a 24-year-old female over in a motor vehicle,” Bonnievale police spokesperson Sgt Sarah Julies related. “They searched and found drugs to the value of R25 000 in the vehicle. Both suspects were arrested and charged for possession of drugs.”
The 49-year-old male was additionally charged with bribery.
“He attempted to bribe one of the police officials,” Julies said. “The Bonnievale police station commander Captain Jeremy Pieterse has praised his members for their quick response, and also for the integrity they showed by acting lawfully on the bribery attempt.”
She added many criminal cases reported to the Bonnievale Police Station are drug-related.
“Too many families are suffering because of drug abuse in Bonnievale. Bonnievale police will not hesitate to enforce the law to stop these illegal activities.”
