Prov.1:7 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
The fear of the Lord and wisdom is going hand in hand. Those who are wise will fear the Lord – they will have respect for the Most High God, the Almighty One.
The fear of the Lord is the kind and awe of respect which will lead to obedience to Him who is the wisest of all. Prov.9:10 “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Many people in this world has no fear (respect) for the Lord but the Word says in Prov.1:29 and 31 “Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord…they shall eat the fruit of their own way..”A healthy fear of the Lord is a strong motivator to walk in holiness.
When we have revelation (life-changing understanding) of God’s holiness, purity and perfection, we stand in awe and amazement of Him. This reverence motivates us to walk in His ways and to follow His commandments. Ps.115:11-13 says: Trust in the Lord, you who fear Him, for He will shield you and bless you.
It is good to know that the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, so put your hope in His mercy and walk in His righteousness and He will fulfills your desires, bless you and revive you. Ps.128:1 “Blessed is every one who fears the Lord, who walks in His ways.”
