This week’s edition of the Helderberg Gazette will be the final one to appear on Tuesday, with the planned amalgamation with DistrictMail set to take effect from next Wednesday (4 May).
The new free publication, entitled DistrictMail & Helderberg Gazette, sees the region’s favourite two newspapers merging into one bigger and better brand, with 36 000 newspapers distributed across the area every Wednesday. Newspapers will be delivered door-to-door and at bulk-drop points in the suburbs of Somerset West, Strand, Gordon’s Bay, Sir Lowry’s Pass, Macassar, Firgrove, Croydon, Faure, Raithby, Lwandle, Nomzamo and neighbouring outlaying towns.
With a combined existence of more than 100 years, both newspaper brands have a proud history of delivering hyperlocal news and providing advertisers with a print publication.
The fusion of the two brands will not impact the delivery of hyperlocal news to the newspapers’ loyal readers, explained Tasmin Cupido, editorial publisher of Helderberg Media. “The editorial team is excited and geared up to continue giving readers the same top-quality news from the Helderberg in the print production,” she said, “but are also looking forward to delivering more immediate news through our online platforms.
“On the advertising front, the new DistrictMail & Helderberg Gazette promises to give advertisers greater reach and market penetration, while also presenting an all-encompassing digital offering in the near future.”
Keep an eye out for the Helderberg Media team on the streets of the Helderberg on launch day (Wednesday 4 May) and see our Facebook pages, @HelderbergGazette and @DistrictMailNewspaper, for more information.
