There is a buzz of excitement at a trusted hardware and building-supply store in Somerset West with the launch of a brand-new name at the reputable decades-old retailer.
This coming Saturday (26 March), Timbercity Somerset West will be relaunched as TimBuild Somerset West, with plenty of fun activities and opening specials planned for this weekend.
Despite the new name, though, the store will continue delivering the same great service by the same friendly staff at the same location, along with much more top-of-the-range products and all you need for your DIY and construction products.
What’s more, the well-known and reliable store remains in the same ownership hands as before, with Stuart Oliver, Dirk Viviers and Liezl le Roux still at the helm of operations. The partners have owned the enterprise since 2015, growing and transforming the service and operations into a one-stop-shop that caters to customers’ every DIY and construction need.
Located on the corner of Reitz and Victoria Street in Somerset West, the store was established in the early 1980s and has passed through the hands of many owners until Stuart, Dirk and Liezl took over about seven years ago.
Together, they have revamped and amped-up the store’s product offerings and service, and introduced the Paint & Plant store on the same premises last October.
“The name change to TimBuild was necessary after we were informed of the phasing out of the Timbercity franchises countrywide,” Stuart explained, adding that the store has aligned its TimBuild and Paint & Plant brands, with the ultimate aim of amalgamating the two stores.
“While the name will change, we will still offer our loyal and new customers the same great service as before. We have always strived to run the business according to a family-orientated ethos – and that will not change. We pride ourselves in getting to know our customers on a one-on-one basis, so we are able to greet them by their names when they enter our doors.”
Dirk, who has always been a hands-on store owner, will continue in this role and be on site to attend to the needs of clients, along with the knowledgeable and friendly staff for which the store has become known throughout the Helderberg.
He says the owners feel the name TimBuild truly speaks to the store’s current client base. The name change has also allowed them to re-look at the store’s product offering, exposing and introducing TimBuild to a new market.
“We will offer a broader spectrum of timber, board, cutting service, sand, cement, plywood, gutters, paint and much more,” Dirk pointed out.
“We will have a larger offering, which shows we truly understand the needs of our clients. As the brand and store grows, we will adapt according to their needs.”
In celebration of the TimBuild launch, locals are invited to pop into the store this Saturday to have a look around and buy all their DIY and construction goods.
The event will include live demonstrations by TimBuild’s bigger product suppliers, showcasing of products, a live broadcast by Radio Helderberg and fun activities and goodies, including popcorn and slushies, for the little ones.
“We are really excited and looking forward to launching the TimBuild Somerset West store with our customers sharing in the joy, so we invite all to drop in at the store from 08:00 to 13:30 and join in the fun,” said Liezl
