Ward 100 councillor Sean Stacey along with Subcouncil 8 chairperson Chantal Cerfontein were granted the honour of declaring the newly resurfaced community netball court in Fern Avenue in Broadlands Park open in a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sunday 13 March. Stacey, in a post shared on Facebook, said: “The City of Cape Town did a great job on this project, even painting a hop-scotch court for the children. We took the opportunity to launch the new season with games between local netball teams, Tarrie United, Gustrouw Stars and guests, Eagles from Macassar. Joined with me as guests of honour are Subcouncil 8 chairperson Chantal Cerfontein and Ward 100 Committee members Eveline Berggren (arts and culture) and Mannie Basardien (sport). The only hiccup to the day was that they wouldn’t let the games begin until I made the inaugural shot at the goal on the court. The problem: I’m a terrible shot.”
