Music and local talent will take centre stage at the V&A Waterfront this month, when the popular local attraction continues its hosting of the free Take the Stageconcert series.

This coming Sunday (16 January), Peter Ndlala’s Unit 5 will light up the venue’s amphitheatre with their sweet sounds at 13:00, while The Pedestrians will entertain visitors at Noble Square on Saturday 29 January at 15:00.

Peter Ndlala’s Unit 5, an Afro-fusion band, comprises an array of artists from the Cape Flats, all with varying musical backgrounds that jointly produce a great sound and a wide repertoire of works. Ndlala’s style is unique with rhythms, harmonies and melodies keeping you on edge as every song tells a story of his journey, both musically and personally.

The band will perform all original material written by the band leader for his forthcoming album.

Cape Town’s The Pedestrians are a young, multi-genre band that has been around for five years. They debuted their single “So much fun” in 2018 and went on to collaborate with Craig Lucas on his hit single “Smother”.

The Pedestrians previously performed at The Joy of Jazz International Festival in Johannesburg in 2015, Jazz on the Rocks in Tietiesbaai and several other festivals in and around Cape Town including the Cape Town International Jazz Festival.
