. Kol.

Vier jaar daarvan is vir vyf jaar opgeskort.. On Wednesday 23 March the Malmesbury Regional Court sentenced Robert Solomons on a charge of murder, which was committed in Chatsworth, Malmesbury.

The crime unfolded when the accused and friends were drinking and the victim threatened the accused and left the premises. The accused got angry and took a knife and went to a shop at the c/o 9th Avenue and Victoria Road in Chatsworth, where the victim had been standing, and stabbed him in the chest. The victim died as a result of his injuries.

Malmesbury police followed-up on information on the whereabouts of the accused and placed him under arrest within hours of the incident. Through thorough investigation by the investigating officer Sgt Elton Bartlett the accused was remanded in custody until his sentencing on Wednesday in the Malmesbury Regional Court, where he was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment, of which four are suspended for five years.

The Malmesbury Station Commander Colonel Benjamin Gqabi lauded the investigating officer for sterling investigative work that had ensured the offender got his day in court. He reiterated that lawlessness would not be tolerated and the police would not hesitate to take action against perpetrators in a bid to ensure a safer environment for the community.
