The second mmm … McGregor Festival is around the corner.
And with delectable food and wine, along with great entertainment, all kicked off with a Heritage Dinner at a long table, the event is one you most definitely do not want to miss. The festival will be held on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 September.
A highlight of the festivities is a unique opportunity to experience the best of the country’s heritage dishes, paired with single vineyard boutique wines along and live entertainment, the Saturday.
On the local and traditional menu will be West Coast mussel potjie, smoorsnoek and potbrood – paired with 2015 Vionier – for starters, followed by succulent Karoo lamb shanks – paired with the 2014 Inspirational Cabernet Sauvignon – and a traditional baked fig pudding with a Red Muscadel. All this will take place in the mmm … McGregor marquee across from the Dutch Reformed Church. With only 50 seats available, you have to book early to ensure your spot at the table.
Tickets for the three-course meal cost R350 and can be booked on 072 693 4052 or info@de-kaap.co.za.
Festivities continue the next day, when the McGregor Festival brings together entertainment, more wines and eateries for a weekend of fun. Artwork will be featured in the local galleries, making it a feast for the eyes as well as the taste buds.
Festival-goers can experience tastings from local wineries and food stalls in the main mmm… Marketplace at the main venue in Church Street.
There will also be music by Gary G, Steve Robinson and girl duo Twixx.
Main mmm … Marketplace entry is R50 for adults and includes a tasting glass and all the entertainment.
While adults enjoy wine, food and music, children can be kept busy with a bouncy castle, body decoration with temporary tattoos and can go creative with cookie decoration and much more fun.
