Children from the Helderberg and surrounding areas explored the majestic and historic Octagonal Garden at Vergelegen Wine Estate during an Easter-egg hunt on Sunday 17 April. Among the avid young hunters was five-year-old Joshua van Schalkwyk of Somerset West, seen with his parents Caroline and Anthony, who took the opportunity to meander and enjoy the garden’s beautiful flowers, ancient trees, lush lawns and finely wrought statuary – home to plenty of nooks and crannies perfect for hiding the sweet treasures. Before the start of the youngsters’ adventure, Gladys Jafta, supervisor at the Vergelegen tasting room, was on hand to prepare all the chocolate delights and hide the treasures.
