I recently parked my car outside Breede River Hospice in Robertson. Coming back to it, I saw a traffic official standing next to it.
Naturally, as people often do, my first thought was “oh boy, what did I do wrong”. But when I got closer, the officer asked if I knew I had a flat tyre.
He saw that I’m an elderly woman and went on to ask if I need help changing it. He immediately got down on his knees and changed the tyre.
People are often very negative about our officers of law, but this gentleman didn’t have to do what he did. He, along with his fellow officer, really went beyond the call of duty. I very much doubt that we would get something like this in bigger towns and cities.
We are really very lucky to have officers like these in our town. What they did is definitely not part of their job description, yet they went the extra mile.
Thank you very much officers Johan Bothma and Cindy Stone; what you did is much appreciated
