On Tuesday 28 February the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) held a Moral Regeneration Movement youth programme at the New Moorreesburg High School, where the South African Police Service Band entertained the learners. Representatives of the police’s Anti Gang Unit explained to the learners how gangsters operate and encouraged them rather to focus on their studies and steer clear of partaking in gangsterism. Godfrey Morris and Jeffrey Arendse of Correctional Services also spoke on how prisoners operated in jail and warned learners to stay away from people who wanted to pull them into criminal activities. WO Nicolette Visagie of Moorreesburg Police Station handed certificates over to learners who participated in the positive-modification programme “Mapping the future” during January 2023 run by different role-players – Swartland Municipality, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS), DCS, Municipal Law Enforcement, Swartland K9 Dog Unit, the departments of Social Development and Justice, and Pastor Tony Williams.
